Inspirations: Structures (Airports)

Once starting to look for new inspirations, structures, colours and designs... and waiting for hours at the airport without anything else to do ^^ ... I found unexpected things! I mean, only look at the following picture! Isn't it great to be a pattern for patchwork and quilting? I would like it only in black and white but image the possibilities by using a lot of colours. One could create a great range of effects, let it be more technical, a little bit being like a flower, a sun, just using rainbow colours...

But I also like this simple structures which could work as backgrounds for papers, cards, fabrics...

It looks like the surface of the moon, no?! :)

Just using different options of my digi which area to zoom etc etc... also gives a lot more of possibilities!

Okay, I had to take this photo! It was just so weird.... and a little bit frightening, this... head... ^^

The effect is quite cool of the lights and the stuff on the ceiling.

Just another little fish stamp!

I really need new carving material! I have only small leftovers... erasers or carving rubber or (I am talking / writing long enough about that) linoleum!

Coffee card and book mark

Here she is, the first card with the new coffee stamps! Next time I will look for a little bit darker background and will even extend the "roughed look" a little bit more :)

And with some leftovers a bockmark. I like the combination of dark and light brown with some black and this kind of turqoise. Just have to find somebody who can laminate me this book mark so I can use it.

I made the coloured papers mostly with different papers and kinds of coffee. Just a few examples of them:

normal writing paper

paper from a small notepad, crushed until it was very softened and afterwards dyed in the coffe and dried with a flat iron... of course with some backing paper in between ^^

If you just press it up the paper you get this structures:

  

But of course you can get all the wrinkles out of the paper while it is still wet. Just like ironing fabric :)

Carved stamps - a coffee themed set

Just another theme I want to create something out of it but didn't have any suitable stamps for it ^^ The theme ist "coffee or tea".

I made two versions of the "steam" because I was not sure whether "smaller or bigger steam" would look better. I think I may go with the version on the left side, the "bigger" one.

At first i was a little bit disappointed that on the coffee writing the last "E" was a little bit broken but after looking through the pictures of coffee sacks in the internet I go in for it! On all the coffee sacks the writing is rough or broken so it's just fitting :)

And now: Bedtime!

Background: Stylish writing

Yes, I can not sleep at the moment. So I start to digitalize things which were on my to-do list. Like this great handwriting of Lachafa. My sister made an example of the writing in my sketch book for me. She invented the font all by herself as her secret writing style and yes, she wrote something down in my book and no, I didn't decipher it ^^

I want to have it so I could use it as a print for backgrounds or stuff like that. For cards or collages...

I also have just b/w versions from it. And it is easy to shade with nearly all photo / picture editing programs.

Paper patchwork cards - flowers

I already posted some paper patchword cards: Paper patchwork cards (ocean and plants) I promised more and here they are: Mostly flowers :)

The cardstocks as well as the flower petals were all cut out of old magazines or prospects and stuff like that. The harder cardstock I got from a magazine with a gift. They had put the board behind the magazine and the gift to stabilize them.

The black background (Yes, it's all glossy and shiny! ^^) was from the already sometimes mentioned jewelery pospect.

At last but not least: Not a flower. I think it is a picture from the sea. Very stylised but in a great combination. The different shades of blue for the sea and the beige / yellow colours for the sand of the beach. I am curious whether somebody can recognize from which kind of picture I cut it out ^^

More new carved stamps - my name tag, a bird and just a square

...I think that says it all... ^^

I already made them two or three days ago just forgot to upload them.

...carving text is... grrrr... but I like carved and stamped writings, they have something special...

It even functions on fabric!

 I need a lot of more basic structures as stamps. This is very small because I just used a leftover from another stamp carving but one can do a lot of things just with basics like this square. The following examples are all on fabric.

This is a mixture between a fabric stamp ink pad (in black and the only one I have *sniff*) and blue fabric paint which is very, very thick!

At last. The birdy on fabric :)

Another rack on my ever-growing wall...

...and it gives home to my devilish tiny red octopus. I couldn't add him to my octopus collection in my bed because my cats love to play with him. Mmpf...

It is just an old wooden drawer without the bottom which I painted roughly (don't want it to look perfect but more a little bit rubish / shabby) with white acrylic paint.

The bottles inside are empty "Bitter Kas" bottles, from this perspective you can't see the details but they are quite lovely. :)

And don't worry... it hangs in perfect line on the wall as well as the mirror... just on the photo it seems not to be like this.

Ocean - the first card with the new stamps

The background is a kind of sandwich paper over black cardboard (I took this cardboard out of a prospect for jewelery ^^). I crushed and teared it so the structures could evolve. Afterwards stamping it with a sponge (the one you need for washing the dishes, very hard and scratchy) with stampin ink and acrylic paint.

The rest was just stamping with the newly carved stamps ^^

New stamps - ocean stuff

I registered myself in a new forum (a german one) and they have these challenges or week topics. One was "maritim" and I made some new stamps for it:

a sailing ship, little fish swarm and two kinds of flying sea gulls

I used erasers as carving rubber as most of the time (because it's cheap and everywhere avaiable!) but have to say with this little details it is not really useful. It doesn't carve so nice and easily like the rubber plates made for carving stamps and with little details it is horror...!

But still... I like them!

Raw material (brain energy... the name is great!)

Different companies, different sizes and different consistency!

I always make a lot of test stamping...
