More than a little bit weird this time but somehow the face fascinated me and it actually caught my intention even being hidden in the corner (high above my head, yes, I am still trying to grow, but not getting taller ;) ).

I was a few days in Hasselt in belgium. It was a symposium for an EU-consortium and I was invited to give a talk about our research. Hasselt is a small and so far I could see a lovely town. 

So far I could see... because I mostly just saw the lecture rooms and the university inside. *sighs*

But one evening I took the chance to at least go a little bit around. Everything was already closed (they close their stores at 6pm... that is no time!) but I had the chance to take some great streetart pictures before it was to dark!

I just love the cat image. Look at the deatils! Sadly seeing it now I see that it actually already was a little bit too dark for my camera.

Still, beautiful! And: How many other animals can you find?

I am back from Sao Paulo (brasil) and while I was there for work, I got away for some hours to have a look around. It is definitely worth a visit even being so absolutely controversial. I was surprised how much I like the city (if you can still call it that being on of the biggest cities worldwide... or megaplexes?) and one of the reasons was the streetart. In nearly every corner we went through (uhm... I was sitting in cars for hours... just couldn't take pictures during the ride...) had a broad range of streetart. On every wall, every corner, every house... and it was so diverse! The next time I will be there I want to take some time just to go around, stop every three meter and take pictures :)

Look what I found on my way from the institute to the supermarket!

Colour, form, placement... I am stunned how perfect this pictures fit in their surrounding! Also the reason why I couldn't chose to select only one image. Every viewpoint gives a slight but beautiful different impression.

Sometimes there are pictures that take you by surprise. This one did this for me! Even seeing the person (she made it all alone in only a few days!) creating the picture it moved on so fast! I wanted to make a photo of her creation process but just forgetting my digi cam for some days and my chace to "capture" her was over. 

The left way is my way to and from work (just for walking or going by bike). It is in the bio city of leipzig next to the BBZ. There are other research institutes and companies around, from Fraunhofer to MPI. The painted building itself is one of the few without research facilities inside. It is in urgent need of repairs. Maybe this is why they allowed her to paint it. I don't think she was paid for it. 

Here you can see the empty space on the left side (before the explosion of colour!). I took this picture as an inspirational photo of the golden "spike" of the building in the back. I also love the shades of red of the building to the right. This time a really new building (one or two years old) with a lot of laboratories inside. This building is especially for small biotech companies to rent necessary working space.

I will have to take another picture as soon as the sun comes out again. So maybe... after the winter! ^^ Her signature is at the bottom to the left side. I'll also try to get a sharp image of that.

But just look at the details (even if the details are really big)! Shades from colour going into each other, shapes that look like splashes of paint, all the lines moving around...! It is huge!

My mind is already working on this, the colours, the shapes and the surprising location on the greay and old building... it makes me smile!

A friend stayed for some days with us. It was her first time in leipzig, so we walked quite a lot through the city (yes, until the feet hurt!). We looked for famous places as well flea market and little shops. And also it is great to have new eyes to look around... because these images were all found and taken by her! :)

First real day of spring! Not only did the sun come out and the temperatures were nice, no... also most of the trees showed the first new and fresh green leaves! It made me see als the small things around me again like the smile, like the cat :)

On the streets: Critters (Gwangju, South Corea)

See the little ants? I was on my way home after my first evening (after my first few hours!) in gwangju. I was invited for my first dinner in a restaurant which prepared and served traditional corean food. They asked me in advance what I would like to try and therefor they chose this restaurant for me. It was so great! There were so many different kinds of vegetables, of seafood and also meat, of sauces and soups.  There was also nothing which was too hot! Spicy, oh yes, really spicy! But only for the moment of taste, there is no burning afterwards! I was introduced into the people I will work together for the next time. It will really be an exchange, because there are things, tips and tricks, which I brought with me and also there are the same things I will learn here. This is a nice balance to give and receive at the same time and I believe this will be a good basis for working together. 

The ants seem to belong to this art studio! lack on the walls and white on the ground. 

It just made me smile to find such thoughtful street art on my first evening at the other side of the world (for me ^^).

Next to a smile I already showed you some time ago I found this sad little one... and just then someone wrote under the sad one: "Alles wird gut!" Which means "Everything will be okay!" in german. Made me smile :)
