Flowers - how to use your jeans fabric scraps!

I had a lot of jeans scraps lying around. I made a big pillow out of old jeans (still not finished or rather stuffed ^^) and had a lot of fabric leftovers. 

Perfect to sew glas beads on top and stitch some knots around it with coloured thread! (this is crochet thread, the same I use for my crochet earrings, I just love the bright colours!)

The come in all colours and sizes...

...and even some other fabric leftovers sneaked in ^^ Really fast and easy to make! 

The whole range of flowers!

I made quite a lot of them over the past weeks. Only one in time, but using up my fabric leftovers and over stuff. Some of them I can't show you, I forgot to take pictures before bringing them to the fair.

You can see, just simple layers of circles with some beads and stitching but it creates a great effect! 

The black and white threads are originally some kind of woven polyester fabric which I sew on like the other fabrics and just in the end I remove all open threads which are not fixed due to the stitching in the middle! An easy way to get the flowery effect I think!

Otherwise I use really all kind of fabric leftothers...

...from cotton to fake green gras stuff...

I add some contrast with the thread I use for stitching. It needs some contrast and to more highlight the organic structures created with the beads.

An example of the back. I use either the brooch pins or the clip pins which can be used either as brooch or as hairpin!

PS: I sew and glue the pins onto the back! ^^

Leather flower brooch - more steampunk

Another item which suits for me for my feeling and style of steampunk. I formed the leather pieces to the flower by using hot water and even hotter air (my embossing tool!). I love how the strong and thick leather looks floral! 

As center one of my polymer clay buttons and a metal brooch pin glued and sewed at the back :) A way to use up small leather parts, it works with thin as well as with thick leather! 

Crochet flower brooch...

This is one of the lots of crochet flowers lachafa made for me :) I just added some sparkling in the middle and attached a piece of felt with a pin at the back. C'est fini!

It was a little bit difficult to catch with the camera but the outer ring of stones is really pink!

A hair-band with flower brooch...

Made out of grey jersey (cotton) pieces which were leftovers of Lachafas sewing project today :) The flower is suitable to be added to the hairband or to be used alone.

I think on my to do list is an item more: to make some choker with flowers like these. I like the way the jersey fabric rolls into itself (just stretch it after cutting it into long pieces!).

You can see the little points of colour on the jersey. This are the trial sites for painting on this fabric but although not intended for this it is perfect to add some colour to the grey band... it is sewed with black thread to get a little bit more "used" or rough effect :)
