This month it was my turn to chose the theme of our monthly challenge at Art Elements. It is summer time and we are finally back on Formentera this year... So what would be a more perfect fit than "Octopus"?!
And of course... As much as I love this theme, I didn't even manage to fulfill a third on my to-do idea list. Work was a little bit overwhelming since I dared to take vacation ;)
Nevertheless I played a little bit with watercolor, I made some tentacles and a tentacle cover for my last blog post at Art Elements (with a tutorial how I made them)...
.... aaaaand most importantly - I managed to carve by biggest printing plate ever (definitely not my last)!

That was daring and the blue carving blanks are not cheap... But I love it! I learned a lot and also see what I could have made better...
But there always is and I am ok with that. Learning needs practice.
Playing with adding some color.... More then I am back home again.
Test prints in between...

I will play more with the plate when I am back... And I will look for some treats here for this month's winner (by chance).
Thank you for joining us and please have a look at everyone's blog and their creations! :)
I want to thank you for this topic. I enjoyed all the posts so much and wish more people had participated because I couldn't get enough.
AntwortenLöschenI love it all, but that printing plate, whoa. I can't wait to see more.
I am so enjoying your print journey, your octopus prints are delightful and detailed! It has been an interesting challenge theme but I have enjoyed the muse so thank you :D
AntwortenLöschenThank you for such a wonderful theme Claire! Your work is stunning as always - so full of life and creativity (you've got such mad skill). :) Enjoy your vacation!
AntwortenLöschenOH MY WORD! That carving is...impressive, a real beauty of a beast. I can't wait to se how you finish out the stamped image. Thanks so much for this fun theme. I lucked out with already having some of the supplies on hand/started, but I'm sure I would have found a way to participate in any case.
AntwortenLöschenWOW-amazing carved octopus! I love it and the steps in the process. This was such a fun theme for this month!
AntwortenLöschenI love that first watercolor and the tentacles!
When you shared your tentacle tutorial I thought the book cover would be my favorite but of course, you next created the wonderful watercolors and that absolutely amazing carving and now I cannot choose a favorite. They are all superb. Thank you for a great theme.
AntwortenLöschenI am so glad you chose this theme! I was blown away by your journal cover earlier this month but this carved print plate is amazing! I just love your print that you added color to. I would frame it! I would also frame your watercolor octopus done in grays. I love that!
AntwortenLöschenWow! That journal cover and the tentacles are amazing! And I am totally blown away with your carved plate. Your drawings are incredible. Can you tell I love everything?
AntwortenLöschenYour carved printing plate is fantastic and I can see you'll be getting a lot of use out of it! Thank you for such a great theme this month.
AntwortenLöschenLove all what you made - the tentacles and the watercolors but the detail on the carving is really amazing!
