Hidden pink!

More earrings using the hidden pink to be suitable for the pink advent calendar ^^ 

This time the dream of pink elefants! 

For the little elefants I made a mold out of air-drying clay. I used an old necklace from my grandmother which consists of a lot of elefant beads (yes, from the time ivory was still used). The beads are very typical in their shape because a friend of me has a very similar necklace (also from her grandmother, necklace seems to be as old as mine). 

The mold I used with fimo / polymer clay and after baking the little elefants were painted with golden / copper acrylic paint.

Finally some to show...

I made the first round of butterfly earrings some time ago (have a look here). This one (as well as the other pair of earrings) I made for a friend. You can see how they evolve from the first time I made them to the next times. Now the butterflies are covered with a laquer-like surface. This time it consist of several layers of clear embossing powder. 

I couldn't show you them before she got them :) The card is one of my transfers done with aceton (look here). 

The other earrings are made out of air-drying clay which I stamped with some wooden fabric stamps.

And as every year around this time: There are a lot of other earrings in production which I can only show you in some time (first: They still have to be finished, and second: A lot of them will fill advent calendars)

Pendants...

This little pendant with a swallow was made with one of my molds and a stamp :)

Like my buttons I mounted it on a card for the market. I like to display my stuff like this :)

And a white version on the deer...

Molds? More molds!

This is airdrying clay again, same brand. 

Just another colour ...

(although I get the impression there are some other differences too, 

the white one seems to be a little more stable...).

You can still see the leftover of the plants...

From A to Z - Letter earrings!

From one ear to the other...

...all in your head! ^^

I bought this letters (made of chipboard or something like that, pressed wooden fibers). I had the idea they would make sweet little earrings. 

I just drilled a tiny hole into them (again, I ove my dremel :) ).

Some painting with acrylic paints...

...and it broke. *grrrr*

But I still loved the letters and the idea of letter earrings. Therefore I used the letters to create molds. 

In the molds I pressed either polymer clay (fimo) or other airdrying clay. Drying, sanding, painting...

...finished! (see the earrings above :) )

They could also be used as pendants for a necklace.

At least the earrings I made with my new molds :) 

Some of them are made with polymer clay (fimo) and some like the molds with airdrying clay. 

I either used black polymer clay or painted them with black acrylic colour. 

Just to add the metallic effects also with acrylic paint. 

As I said... no sun! Therefore I had to use artifical light to get som pictures :(

I hope you get at least a little impression how they can shine in the light!

I love the colours... I used water acrylic paints to create the light and dark effects.

I am just not sure whether I should leave them as they are... or add a additional layer of laquer for protection. Mh... Any suggestions? 

And yes, I'll mount / sew them all on little cards ^^

About cookie cutters and earrings...

I have several cookie cutters I just bought (some time ago... some.... long timer ago ^^) for crafting. You see I have a lot of them twice: One for crafting and one for food. Please, never use the ones for crafting for something you want to eat! Especially not if you are working with polymer clay like me! 

I wanted to try out wheter all the sizes were useable to make earring with them. For this kind of test I used air-drying clay (a very cheap one) because I didn't want to waste fimo (polymer clay) with it. But the principle is the same :)

I rolled out the clay and just stamped it... and then cut out parts with my cookie cutters...

They take time to dry. Not only a day...

This structure was made with my wooden stamp (you maybe know it from here). You see the brown spots? It's due to the wood of the stamp :)

I love this stamp!

This was made with a piece of fimo where I just pressed some plants in it. This is now my negative stamp for other clay. But it is not too easy to use. Sometimes the clay stuck on the baked fimo... If anybody has some ideas how to avoid this: Please! I also tried some laquer... didn't worked...

After drying I painted the surface with acrylic paints. I tried out different colours combinations and layers. 

Some colours were mat and some gloss...

And of course... metallic colours...! They are so beautiful in the sun!

This one I didn't use for earrings... mh... any ideas what to make out of it?

And here you can see the whole collection. All of them went to Lachafa for a real life earring study. After this she has to give me a report about which size is okay to wear and which colours worked best... etc :) After this I'll make more of them with fimo. Polymer clay is a little bit more stable than this air.drying clay. But... it is not too bad to be honest.
